Porchfest is a wonderful phenomenon. Years ago Kati Sowiak brought to our quaint town the idea of Porchfests. Instead of having one Summer block party, she suggested that boro residents each take turns having outdoor house gatherings on Friday nights during the summer. Attendees would bring food and drink to contribute to the merriment and not bankrupt the party givers.

Aided by the wonderful, witty, and wise Romy who organized the events, the idea took hold and we are now in the sixth year of Porchfests. The dates are from the first Friday in May to the middle of October.

Neighbors get to know each other, softball games are organized, communal bonds are strengthened. Five to fifteen year olds meet friends and are supervised by whole hosts of adults.

Anyone from outside the area who might view this page, we ask you to think about how easy this might be to do. You could start a Porchfest in your town or neighborhood.

However, we are going to keep ours a little bit private from here on. So to view the schedule and/or pictures from recent Porchfests, please type in the last name of the handsome man you see pictured below. The name is case sensitive.
